Topic: Streamlining Your Template Structures When Building Themes
Presented By: Cameron Jones
Location: River City Labs, Fortitude Valley

Following on from an awesome weekend of everything WordPress at WordCamp Brisbane, we’ll be joined by Cameron Jones to talk about streamlining Template Structures when building WordPress Themes.

This presentation will be a technical talk, and may fly over some attendees heads. The presentation is only part of the evening, with networking before and after along with some food and general chatting, come and talk about the questions that are on your mind, but you might even learn something from the presentation that you weren’t expecting.

As Cameron put it himself:
Understanding the WordPress template hierarchy is a key component to understanding how themes work. However, many themes, including free, premium and custom, will include some inefficient practices that make them difficult to extend and customise.
In this talk you will:
– Gain an understanding of the theme template hierarchy
– Receive an in-depth look into WordPress actions, filters and template parts
– Learn how to apply this information to building themes that will lead to writing DRYer and more flexible code

We’d like to thank our sponsors for their ongoing dedication to the meetup:
Conetix, Plesk, and WP Engine.
