The WordPress Melbourne meet up returns for another month. Our WordPress meetup covers everything from choosing Themes & Plugins and setting up your site, through to theme and plugin development and everything related to Core.

We’re always looking for new speakers, so contact the organisers in the meetup.com sidebar if you have an idea for a talk. We usually start the night with a light meal before the talks.

Developing for the WordPress Customizer

The WordPress Customizer allows you to update various WordPress settings and theme options, all while providing you with a Live Preview. Anthony is going to show you how you can add Customizer functionality into your theme, including making use of the default Core Controls, Creating your own Custom Controls, updating the Live Preview and lastly, how to use the theme options in your theme.

Anthony Hortin, from Maddison Designs, is a Designer & Developer who builds WordPress websites for a living. He’s one of the co-organisers for the monthly WordPress Melbourne meetups. As well as a contributor to the official WordPress theme and Plugin Directories, he’s also the author of the extremely popular Easy WP Guide WordPress manual.
